A camp in 1860

According to the City Council, the origin of the area lies in 1860, when the Spanish troops who fought in the War of Africa camped on the Dehesa de Amaniel, land that no longer exists. That settlement and the Castro Plan gave rise to the neighbourhood.

Bravo Murillo and the working-class districts

Along the old road to France, now Calle de Bravo Murillo, the working-class districts of Tetuán de las Victorias, which belonged to the municipality of Chamartín de la Rosa, and Cuatro Caminos arose. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries they grew with the arrival of immigrants from different provinces looking for work; the metro boosted them and by around 1930 they were practically joined.

From independent district to AZCA

Chamartín de la Rosa was annexed to Madrid in 1948 and in 1955 Tetuán became an independent district. The extension of the Castellana opened in 1952, AZCA was built between the 1960s and 1970s, and from the 1990s the present Plaza de Castilla began to take shape.

This guide describes the figure for the area, not an individual home: valuing a property requires comparing similar homes. The report does not say how many transactions underlie each territorial median.
